Publication Ethics
IJRDO – Journal of Language, Gender and Literature Studies fully adheres to the principles of integrity, transparency, fairness, and responsibility in scholarly publishing.
All ethical standards described herein follow internationally recognized guidelines and principles, including:
- Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE)
- Directory of Open Access Journals
- International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE)
- World Association of Medical Editors (WAME)
- Declaration of Helsinki (where applicable to research involving human participants)
- UNESCO Universal Declaration on Bioethics and Human Rights (where applicable)
IJRDO – Journal of Language, Gender and Literature Studies applies rigorous double-blind peer review and maintains strict ethical and professional standards to ensure that published research meets appropriate standards of quality, originality, integrity, and transparency in international scholarly communication.
The journal follows relevant COPE Core Practices and guidance when addressing publication ethics, research misconduct, authorship, conflicts of interest, peer review, complaints, corrections, retractions, and other ethical concerns.
The journal expects all authors, reviewers, editors, and the publisher to uphold these principles throughout the publication process. The journal provides open access to its content under the Creative Commons License, allowing users to share and reuse published work with proper credit to the original authors.
Publisher Responsibilities
IJRDO Journals, as the publisher, takes responsibility for maintaining the overall quality and integrity of the publication process. In practice, this means:
- Keeping submitted manuscripts and related information confidential
- Providing support for technical issues related to the journal system
- Maintaining proper records and backups of all submissions and publications
- Publishing articles only after necessary proofreading and author approval
- Ensuring that articles are clearly formatted and professionally presented
- Addressing complaints, ethical concerns, or misconduct in line with Committee on Publication Ethics recommendations
The publisher also ensures that editorial decisions remain independent and are not influenced by commercial interests. The journal does not promote commercial advertisements that could affect academic neutrality.
Author Responsibilities
Authors play a central role in maintaining the credibility of the journal. By submitting a manuscript, authors confirm that:
- The work is original and has not been published elsewhere
- The manuscript is not under review by another journal at the same time
- All sources and references have been properly acknowledged
- All listed authors have contributed meaningfully to the research
- Any potential conflicts of interest are clearly disclosed
The journal does not accept plagiarism, fabricated data, or misleading results. All submissions are checked using plagiarism detection tools.
Journal Management and Editorial Integrity
The journal aims to maintain clear and transparent editorial procedures.
Editorial responsibilities should be appropriately separated from commercial considerations. Advertising, sponsorship, author fees, or other business interests should not improperly influence editorial decisions.
The journal will provide relevant information regarding its editorial team, peer-review process, publication policies, licensing, fees, and contact information through its website.
Authors are expected to present their findings honestly. Data should not be manipulated, selectively reported, or altered in a way that could mislead readers.
Authorship and Contributions
Only individuals who have made significant contributions should be listed as authors. Changes in authorship after submission are generally discouraged and are not allowed after acceptance.
Errors and Corrections
If an error is identified in a published article, the journal will assess the nature and significance of the error.
A correction may be issued when an error affects the article but does not invalidate its principal findings or conclusions.
Authors are expected to notify the journal promptly if they identify a significant error in their published work.
Corrections should clearly identify the article and describe the relevant change while maintaining transparency of the publication record.
Handling Misconduct
If ethical concerns arise, the journal will review the case following the procedures recommended by Committee on Publication Ethics. Depending on the situation, actions may include rejection of the manuscript, publication of corrections, or retraction of the article.
- Conduct an initial assessment of the allegation.
- Request clarification or supporting information from the relevant parties.
- Review available manuscript, editorial, peer-review, or publication records.
- Seek additional information or documentation where appropriate.
- Follow relevant COPE guidance when determining the appropriate course of action.
- Contact an author's institution or other responsible authority where the matter requires institutional investigation.
- Take appropriate editorial action based on the available evidence.
Editor Responsibilities
Editors are responsible for ensuring that the review and publication process is fair and unbiased. Their role includes:
- Evaluating submissions based on academic merit and relevance
- Maintaining confidentiality of manuscripts and reviewer identities
- Avoiding situations where conflicts of interest may arise
- Taking appropriate action when ethical concerns are reported
- Issuing corrections or retractions when necessary
Editors may submit their own work to the journal only if it is handled independently and without any influence on the review process. Editors must disclose any actual or potential conflicts of interest and recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where personal, professional, financial, or institutional relationships could affect their impartiality.
Reviewer Responsibilities
Reviewers contribute to improving the quality of published research. They are expected to:
- Provide honest, constructive, and timely feedback
- Evaluate manuscripts objectively without personal bias
- Keep all review materials confidential
- Inform the editor if a conflict of interest exists
- Point out relevant work that has not been cited
Reviewers should not use information from the manuscript for personal benefit or communicate directly with the authors. Reviewers with significant conflicts of interest should decline the review invitation.
Conflict of Interest
All authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any actual or potential conflicts of interest that could influence the research, peer review, or editorial decision-making process. If no conflict exists, authors should state: “The authors declare no conflict of interest.” The editorial office will assess disclosed conflicts and take appropriate measures to ensure an impartial and transparent publication process.
Corrections and Retractions
When issues are identified after publication, the journal may take one of the following actions:
- Correction: for minor errors that do not affect the overall findings
- Expression of Concern: when there is uncertainty about the integrity of the work
- Retraction: in cases of serious ethical violations or unreliable data
Retracted articles will remain available but clearly marked to maintain transparency.
Expressions of Concern
An Expression of Concern may be issued when serious questions arise regarding the reliability, integrity, or ethical conduct of a published article but the available information is not sufficient to justify an immediate correction or retraction.
An Expression of Concern may remain in place while an investigation is ongoing or while the journal awaits information from an appropriate institution or authority.
